Born from Necessity. Rooted in Practice.

In 1992, everything changed. Following major surgery to remove a brain tumor, the athletic life I had known with the long runs and the cycling was suddenly out of reach. What filled that space was something quieter, deeper, and ultimately more transformative: meditation and yoga. What began as healing became a calling. Yoga didn't just change my body. It changed everything.

The First of Its Kind

As yoga became the center of my world, I looked around and found no apparel that honored the practice. No clothing designed for the woman who lived this lifestyle. So I built it. Ancient Language became the first yoga apparel line in the world, born from a genuine practitioner's need rather than a market trend.

What started as modest organic cotton lycra yoga apparel grew into something larger. We began designing custom graphics for yoga studios and wellness centers to bring them artwork rooted in ancient symbolism, Sanskrit, and the visual language of the practice itself. It was never just apparel. It was wearable wisdom.

Staying Inspired to Deep Yoga Truths

When yoga went mainstream, the fast fashion world followed. Suddenly everyone had a yoga line. But chasing trends was never our story. Honoring true yoga was. While others pivoted toward mass production and throwaway fashion, we stayed rooted in the values that started this whole journey: quality you can feel, design that means something, and a deep respect for the practice that made all of this possible.

Thirty years in, the passion hasn't dimmed, it has sharpened. We design with more intention, source with more care, and show up more fully for the woman who takes her practice and what she wears to it seriously.

Why It Matters

This line exists because yoga saved my life. Not metaphorically, but literally. It gave me purpose when my body couldn't give me the life I had planned. Every piece we design carries that origin with it. When you wear Ancient Language, you're wearing thirty years of devotion to this practice, to quality, and to the belief that what you put on your body should reflect what you cultivate within it.

We are women who practice. We design for women who practice. That has never changed.

What's Next? The OG Yogi Shop

After thirty years of designing for the yoga community, the next chapter feels like the most natural one yet. The OG Yogi Shop was born from a simple truth: the teachers who shape this practice deserve to share in what they inspire. We have spent decades putting meaning into apparel. Now we are inviting the teachers, studio owners, and guides who live that meaning every day to have a collection of their own, designed by us, fulfilled by us, and connected to the communities they have spent years building.

This has been in my heart for years. It is the fullest expression of the one we have always been on. And now, technology has made this doable.

I'VE BEEN A BUYER

I have sat on both sides of this business. I ran my own boutique attached to a yoga studio — merchandising, curating, and helping real women find pieces that made them feel like themselves, whether shopping for their own practice or finding the perfect gift for someone they love.

I have always been my own customer. I practice. I go deep at retreats. I have studied with world-class teachers and spent years as a Yoga Journal vendor, standing on that floor and listening to what great teachers actually want and need from their apparel.

The women I see on that mat are vibrant, strong, and beautiful at every stage of life. Every piece I design is meant to reflect exactly that — because they deserve clothing that sees them the way I do.
